History

The Waterbase Ltd. was established in 1993 as India’s first fully integrated aquaculture company. It was initially set up in technical association with LUXE, Taiwan, which is one of the world’s largest producers of prawn and fish feeds.

Over the years, the company has collaborated with several industry experts, as well as leading global aquaculture institutes and universities to develop industry-wide best practices through a focus on product development, R&D, farm services and animal health care.

The Waterbase Ltd. is promoted by the Karam Chand Thapar Group, KCT, a diversified Indian conglomerate with business interests in logistics, coal and commodity trading, capital goods, real estate and renewable energy. KCT Group was founded in 1929 by the late Karam Chand Thapar, who is often regarded one of the founding fathers of Indian industry and commerce. The Group has a long and proud history of doing business in India. As the only listed company of the KCT Group, the Waterbase Ltd. is committed not only to continuing the rich business legacy of the Group, but to significantly build and develop it further in years to come.
